- The punctuation at the end of subfield _a (title proper) varies based on the subfield that follows it:
- A colon precedes subfield _b other title information such as subtitle).
- A slash precedes subfield _c (statement of responsibility).
- No punctuation precedes subfield _h (GMD - general material designation)
- Subfield _h (GMD) is enclosed in brackets. The following is a list of terms that are valid for subfield _h:
