| Guidelines |
- The Local Subject Access Fields (690-699 tags) are reserved for local use. These tags are used for locally established subject headings, such as special programs of the individual library, special collections, or access to vertical files in the library.
These tags allow patrons to find items of local interest with a simple search.
- In Destiny, for local tags that are not of interest to patrons of other libraries in the district, the use of a correctly formatted subfield _5 limits their display to that one Destiny site only.
The correct format is:
Note: Do not enter any ending punctuation in subfield _5.
- The library determines which tags, subfields, and indicators to use. For the purpose of our examples we are using the 690 tag with the same subfields as the 650 tag.
Some examples include a Local Note, entered in the 590 tag.
