Generate a Resource Need Forecasting report
The Resource Need Forecasting report lets you determine which of your resources are reaching the end of their projected life and need replacing. It also provides an estimated replacement price. Destiny calculates a replacement date based on the projected life and the acquisition date of a resource.
| Note: To generate a meaningful report, item records need information in the Date Acquired and Projected Life fields, and resource description records need information in the Replacement Price field. |
To generate the report:

Note: In Resource Manager, you can only access the resources you have permission to view. |
- Select Reports > Resource Reports.
- Under Catalog -- Resources & Items, click Resource Need Forecasting. The report setup page appears.

- Do any of the following:
- Next to List items reaching end of projected life, enter a date range or click
to select the dates.Note: You can limit to one date or a range.
- All dates: Leave both fields blank.
- One date: Enter the same date in both fields.
- Up to and including a specific date: Leave the From field blank, and enter a date in the to field.
- A specific date and all those after it : Enter a date in the From field, and leave the to field blank.
- If running the report at the district, use the For drop-down to select the district, a group of sites, or an individual site.
- To select specific resource types, click Update next to Of Resource Type.
- To exclude items having certain statuses, deselect the appropriate And Status checkboxes.
- To limit the report to items that cost over or under a certain amount, select the term from the Purchase Price drop-down, and enter a dollar amount in the field.
- Use the Show drop-down to select to run a summary or detailed version.
- Next to List items reaching end of projected life, enter a date range or click
- Click Run Report.
- When Report Manager opens, click View to open the summary that includes links to a .pdf and .xml version of the report. Otherwise, click the appropriate link in Report Manager.
Report Contents
Summary report
The Summary lists the following information:
- Resource Type
- For each resource type, the total number of items meeting the criteria
- Purchase Price total for those items
- Replacement Price total for those items
- Total Purchase Price for all items included in the report
- Total Replacement Price for all items included in the report
Details report
The Details version includes the summary information and the following about each item:
- Resource name
- Barcode number
- Department
- Replacement Date
- Purchase Price
- Replacement Price
The .xml file also includes the Status of each item.
A Details version that includes more than one site also shows the following subtotals for each site:
- For each resource type, the total number of items belonging to the site
- Total Purchase Price for those items
- Total Replacement Price for those items
A Resource Need Forecasting report does not include information about the following items:
- Items with a Status of On Order
- Items with a Projected Life of 0 (zero)
- Items without an Acquisition Date
Report Sort Order
The report is sorted first by Resource Type.
If the report includes more than one site, it is secondarily sorted by site name.
It is then sorted by Department, and then by Replacement Date (earliest to latest).
